CLVP
"A Different Path"

The Champions League Volleyball Project (CLVP) is a cooperative effort of like minded junior volleyball clubs to develop a training & competition model that is efficient, far more player friendly and less costly than the current model. It is based on finding a different path and helping each partner club to grow together.
Goals
Tier I (Open/Premier)
Provide the highest level of training and competition to assist partner clubs in their efforts to win open level medals and championships.
Tier II (Club)
Assist all clubs in team and player development of their largest player base. Identify players at this level who can succeed at the T1 level and move those teams/players up as quickly as possible. This will be the most important level in terms of team/player development. Organization is KEY!
Tier III (Classic)
Provide an oulet for new and young players to gain competitive experience in an atmosphere that emphasizes accelerated development through "managed" competition.
Events
Tier I (Open/Premier)
(3) 3 day weekends:
Friday: 1 session, 2.5hrs
Saturday: 2 sessions, 2.5hrs each
Sunday: 1 session, 2-3 matches
Each weekend will consist of a combination of accelerated component "game situation" play that evolves to pure match play using a revised format system. This allows for greater play for all players while at the same time avoiding overuse situations that normally come with multi-day tournaments.
Tier II (Club)
(4-6) 2 day weekends:
Saturday: 2 sessions, 2.5hrs each
Sunday: 1 session, 3hrs
Session 1 on Saturday will be component play with match situations using multiple ball/wash type drills that allow for many more ball contacts than normal match play.
Session 2 on Saturday will be match play with revised formatting that guarantees all players plenty of playing time each match. Sunday will finish with competition based on "power level" to give all teams in the event the best chance to play against other teams of equal or close to equal ability. This provides the most competitive environment for both player and team growth under competitive pressure.
Tier III (Classic)
(5) Single day for 2 sessions:
Session 1 will feature 6v6 team competition drills that are much more competitive and faster paced than normal match play. All drills will be scored and W&L recorded for each team. Session 2 will feature teams seeded according to Session 1 results in either a power pool or bracket play format using the 40-20 set format that allows all players to see significant playing time, but also allows for a winner and loser to be determined for each match.
Formatting
Besides unique component and situational play, the CLVP will use a special match format that allows every clubs' "customers" (the players) to receive adequate playing time at all CLVP events without causing any team to not be able to play to their maximum potential.
Tier I (Open/Premier)
40-20 format:
1st set to 40 pts / 3 timeouts (unlimited subs)
2nd set to 20 pts / 2 timeouts
(all non starters from 1st set start and play this set)
25-15 format:
same concept, but allows for more sets / matches to be played.
Tier II (Club)
Set 1: 25 points
unlimited subs (this set will determine the winner of the match)
Set 2: 15 points
unlimited subs (all players who did not play in set 1 must play in set 2 unless injured or out for "special" reasons)
Tier III (Classic)
Set 1: 25 points
unlimited subs (this set will determine the winner of the match)
Set 2: 15 points
unlimited subs (all players who did not play in set 1 must play in set 2 unless injured or out for "special" reasons)
Shelbie Dailey
Alabama Performance
"We are excited to be a part of a new way to look at grassroots and competition from all levels of the club. While exposing our players, coaches, parents and ultimately our communities to the best possible training and learning environments possible. We are excited to train and compete with like-minded clubs creating a network unlike any other!"
Fernando Morales
Evansville United
"We honestly believe the CLVP will provide our players and coaches the best chance to get better, get exposure and create important relationships. The development of the players each of these weekends will be second to none. We are excited about this project and the future of all the clubs joining."
Janie Wiggins
Deep South
"As the director of Deep South, I felt that by choosing to support CLVP we would be giving our players better training opportunities. The concept of high level training along with competition for training dates would be much more beneficial to our players than just playing pool play and bracket play."
